Funding a Fund

Funds are listed alphabetically by the donor’s last name, or the main word in the fund name.  Non-permanent funds are held temporarily for projects or programs.  All other funds are permanently endowed funds which means only a percentage of the earned income is spendable thus growing the endowment for generations to come.
Note: For a complete description of the scholarship criteria to a specific fund, please refer to the most current scholarship application. If the scholarship is not listed on the application, it is not being offered at the current time.  Please contact the community foundation at 260-894-3335.

The purpose of this fund is to support the efforts of ACRES, a non-profit organization, in acquiring and protecting nature preserves in northeast Indiana for environmental education, scientific study and public enjoyment.

Adoption Assistance Fund (D)
The purpose of this fund is to provide financial assistance toward the cost of adoption for qualified families that are determined to be in need of such assistance, according to criteria and a selection process that are fair and impartial and established by the Agency.

Robert and Darlene Black Charitable Fund (D)
To provide support to the Humane Society of Noble County, Inc., Kendallville Day Care Center, and Salvation Army, Noble County.

Black Pine Animal Sanctuary (PARC, Inc.) Endowment Fund (D)

The purpose of the fund is to support the programs and activities of Black Pine Animal Sanctuary.

Peter R. Bottomley Scholarship Fund (C)
One scholarship for an East Noble high school senior who has participated in 4 years of East Noble High School Band and is pursuing a 4 year degree in instrumental music education or performance with a minimum GPA of 3.0.  For undergraduate study only. Of the three required written recommendations, one must be from Band Director.  A recommendation form can be found at the end of the scholarship application.  Extra essay required on page 19. “Why are you pursuing a music degree and how music will help change people’s lives.”  A one time award amount. For tuition only.

A one-time payment for a Central Noble High School senior with a GPA of 2.0 or above pursuing an apprenticeship or schooling with preference given in this order HVAC, industrial maintenance, and carpentry, auto or marine mechanics, CNC or welding.  Payment to be made after proof of enrollment or acceptance into program.  Can be used for tuition and books.

Kris Campbell “Any Dream Will Do” Scholarship Fund (B)
To provide a scholarship to a senior at Prairie Heights High School who has participated in drama club or has excelled in high school English and will pursue any English or teaching major in college.

Care and Share Fund (D)
A program developed to provide elementary classrooms in Noble County with the opportunity, knowledge, and incentive to experience the joy of philanthropy.

Celebrate Diversity Fund (F)
The purpose of the fund is to provide ongoing support to the programs, goals and objectives of the Celebrate Diversity Project, which was launched in 2001 with a Community Alliances to Promote Education grant from the Lilly Endowment, Inc.

Civic Affairs Fund (F)
To be used for grant requests with civic affairs issues i.e. relating to a government of a town or city building community.

Cole Center Family YMCA Capital Fund (D)
To provide support to Cole Center Family YMCA such support shall be used for the sole purpose of capital projects or for repair/replacement during capital projects at the Cole Center YMCA facilities.

Fred and Rose Cunningham Memorial Scholarship Fund (C)

To provide a scholarship to Central Noble High School seniors who will be attending or graduates that are attending Purdue University with preference to those entering the agriculture, consumer and health services, veterinary, nursing or pharmacy fields.

The purpose of this fund is the continued protection, maintenance and expansion of the East Noble Band program and its related activities.

Nathan Shumaker Memorial Scholarship Fund (C)

The primary purpose of the Fund shall be to establish a scholarship for a graduate of East Noble High School pursuing an education in the medical profession.

Youth Opportunity Fund (D)
The fund enables Noble County Judges to provide assistance and incentives for children who are in the court system mainly as a result of neglect and/or abuse.  Since such children are at great risk of scholastic, social and marital failure and of becoming entangled in substance abuse, exploitation and criminality, the hope is that the grants, made for important purposes for which other private and government monies are not available, will help prevent failure in life.

YWCA Noble County Fund (D)
